The golf
The diabolical Pete Dye, known for his ridiculously difficult courses, was somehow selected as the man to design Waterwood’s resort course. The railroad ties and bulkhead water hazards are here, as are the tight fairways, long carries over water, and small greens.
Every hole is ruthless, and the course rating ranks Waterwood as one of the 50 most difficult courses in the nation. In fact, the PGA Tour Q-School tourney has been held here three times
The 14th hole overlooks Lake Livingston and is nicknamed “The Cliffs.” At 225 yards you’ll feel like you’re hitting over the entire lake, which isn’t the mental imagery you need when you’re getting ready to fire a 3 wood or driver into a green that has virtually no bail-out area. |
