The golf
The Buckhorn offers a basic, no-frills golf experience away from the urban hysteria in San Antonio. The course is wide-open and not overly difficult, but generally in excellent condition, highlighted by its challenging greens. Since it’s a good drive from San Antonio, the crowds don’t make out this way and you’ll never be rushed or have to wait for the group in front of you.
Since the basic layout provides minimal hazards, the real challenge at Buckhorn is in dealing with the greens. The greens are large and slick; many have three to four elevation changes. When analyzing your putt be sure to take a look from all angles, as there are subtle breaks that you’ll fail to notice with just a passing glance. |
