La Paloma Golf Club
The golf         Some maintain that the scenery around Amarillo is flat and mundane, yet set in the rolling plains around Amarillo Creek you’ll find an impressive links-style course with dramatic elevation changes, three lakes, a creek, a natural waterfall, and a track that totally envelops its natural surroundings.

Many say La Paloma is the most difficult course in the area. The superbly conditioned bent-grass greens are lightning-fast. For a links course the fairways are surprisingly narrow, and loaded with fairway bunkers. Most greens are surrounded by water and/or bunkers.

The drab Panhandle scenery livens up on the back with a multitude of natural rock outcroppings. Hole 16 is the most spectacular: a 220-yard par 3 that requires a full carry over the water hazard to a big green fronted by a rock wall.

Play La Paloma while you can, as the facility has plans to go private. You won’t be disappointed–this is one you’ll want to play pretty much regardless of price.
